New Zealand Amateurs are now allowed to use the 500khz Band for experimental purposes for cw use. Test transmissions from ZL1ZLD 86 Branch NZART otherwise known as the Surburban Amateur Radio Club located at the Musick Point Memorial Radio Station using a frequency of 512khz have had contacts to several VK's at distances of over 2000km.
