1. BACKGROUND
- The DU1VHY 144/430 MHz Round-up Contest was conceptualized to remember the efforts and contributions of Roberto Vicencio, DU1VHY to the Philippine Ham Radio community. Friends fondly call him Jojo.
- The program rules are updates from the annual PARA VHF-UHF Round-up Contest (rev.12-20150423)
- Henceforth, the operating frequencies will only be within the 144 and 430 MHz until succeeding rules updates will be published.
2. OBJECTIVE
- Enjoy the contest.
- For participating amateur radio stations to contact as many amateur radio stations as possible within the allocated contest period.
- Provide a venue for testing propagation.
- Develop and enhance fellowship and friendship among amateurs.
- Collect as many QSL cards as possible for award credit.
3. PERIOD OF OPERATION

4. ELIGIBILITY
- All licensed amateur radio stations are encouraged to participate and must operate within the limits of their licenses.
5. SUGGESTED FREQUENCIES
- 2 meters CW (A1A): 144.01 – 144.099 MHz
- 2 meters SSB (J3E): 144.1 – 144.199 MHz
- 2 meters FM (F3E): 144.2 – 144.98 MHz
- 2 meters FM (F3E): 145.02 – 145.98 MHz
- 70 centimeters CW (A1A): 430 – 431 MHz
- 70 centimeters SSB (J3E): 431.02 – 433 MHz
- 70 centimeters FM (F3E): 433.02 – 439.98 MHz

- For health and safety reasons, Year 2021 contest only have the Single-operator and Team competition categories

7. RULES
- A participant must use only one callsign during the entire contest.
- A participant is defined as an individual person that participates in the contest.
- All antennas must be physically connected by wires/cables to the transmitters and receivers.
- Contacts made on the EMERGENCY frequency, 145.000 MHz are not valid.
- In the event that HERO is activated, all participants are not to use 144.74 MHz
- Same station contacts on the same band are allowed provided that the contacts are made on different modes. [i.e. 2m and/or 70cm J3E. F3E and A1A).
- Single Tone generated modulation using F3E emission is not allowed.
- A participating station with a special event callsign MUST secure a permit from the NTC prior to the contest and failure to obtain the same will disqualify the contest entry. A copy of the Special Permit shall be submitted together with the log submission.
- Contacts via repeaters or the internet are not allowed.
- A participating station must only be sending one transmitted signal per band.
- In the interest of Long Haul QSO’s, the use of telephones, text, telegrams, packet, fax machines, internet, HF is allowed to let people know that you are on the air, however, actual QSO’s must be completed over the 2m and/or 70cm airwaves for contest credit.
- No cross-band and cross mode contacts.
- Contacts with mobile stations are allowed. However, if the same mobile station is contacted via his/her fixed location, both QSOs will only have one QSO point credit.
- Compliance to the operating frequency per license class privilege are enforced.
- Timestamps of contacts made must be in UTC. Non-compliance may result in entry disqualification.
- The Team category is defined as follows:
- A team is composed of at least two (2) up to a maximum of four (4) team members operating uniquely and respectively.

- In consideration of health and safety, the team members must operate in different locations (not in one location).

- The locations of the individual team members must be within a twenty (20) kilometers radius from each other.
- Each team will be competing with each other even if they are members of the same radio club
- Don Bosco ARC Team 1 is competing with Don Bosco ARC Team 2; Don Bosco ARC Team 3 and the rest of the team category participants
- Individual contest participants wishing to form a team must PRE-REGISTER their team via email: para1932@gmail.com by June 3, 2021 at 0900 UTC (5pm PST). Team submissions after the date and time deadline shall not be considered for the Team category.

- A team must designate only one participant from its team members to register via email
- The team must also designate one of its team members to remind and ensure his/her team members of strict compliance to the minimum health protocols.
- The callsign of the designated participant (BIDA-BASTONERO) shall be indicated in the pre-registration email

- Aggregate score of the individual stations will be the sum of the individual scores of the respective participants.
- The callsign of the other team members must be clearly stated in the logsheet submitted.
- The individual stations comprising the team may still submit their individual logsheets in the Single-operator category. Please refer to Item 6 Entry Classifications above

9. MULTIPLIERS
Multipliers are the number of Grid Locators and prefixes worked.
A PREFIX is the letter/numeral combination which forms the first part of the amateur call. Examples: DU1, DU2, 4F2, DW1, DV9, DX5, etc. Any difference in the numbering, lettering, or order of same shall count as a separate prefix. Should a station be signing in as a portable callsign, the prefix credit shall follow the district number where the station is located. (Example: DX3DEF/2, the prefix holds as is DX2) (second example: DW1, DV1, DU1 and 4F1 are unique prefixes and shall count as a multiplier)
10. QSO POINTS
Contacts between stations from different Radio Districts are worth ten (10) points (example1: DU1 calling a DU2 station)
Contacts between stations within the same radio district are worth five (5) points.
11. SCORING
The final score equals the total QSO points multiplied by the total number of grid locators and prefixes worked.
- ✓ Note: For the Team competition, the aggregate score of the individual stations will be the sum of the individual scores of the respective participants.
12. AWARDS/PRIZES
Colored award e-certificates will be awarded to the top finishers in each category.
Colored e-certificates will be awarded for the second and third place finishers in each category.
Participation e-certificates will be given to all participating stations submitting their logs on time.
The result of this contest will be published in the PARA website
A special colored certificate shall be given to the stations making the Longest Haul contact on the 2 meter and 70 centimeter band.

13. LOG INSTRUCTIONS
Use the universal coordinated time (UTC) in logging the contacts.
Log all sent and received exchanges.
Log/s must be checked for duplicate contacts, correct QSO points and multipliers. Submitted logs must have duplicate contacts clearly marked.
Logs must be submitted on a Cabrillo format (available log conversions are on the internet) or by using the official logsheet template of this contest to para1932@gmail.com with the subject line stating the callsign of the participating station and PARA 2021 DU1VHY Memorial Contest LOG.

The electronic log must be submitted as a file attachment to the email
A copy of the amateur radio station license and the valid permit for special callsigns must be submitted as an attachment to the log sheet/s or as an attachment to the electronic log submission.
14. DISQUALIFICATION
A. Violation of amateur radio rules and regulations of the contest.
B. An entrant whose log is deemed by the Contest Committee to contain a large number of discrepancies may be disqualified.
Action and decision of the PARA Contest Committee are official and final.
15. DEADLINE
Submitted logs must be emailed NOT LATER than 30 June 2021. Logs emailed after the deadline will be considered checklog and not be eligible for any contest award
